We are an interfaith hospice choir based in Newton, Massachusetts. We are committed to singing for for people who are terminally ill, and on their final journey into death. Professional and family caregivers, and loved ones in private homes, nursing homes, hospitals and hospices are welcome to share in our gift of song. We also sing at Memorial services, Funerals and Celebrations of Life. JourneySongs also has a commitment to sing at local memorial services (sampling of sites: Good Shephard, Tippett House, Marist House, Parmenter, Hebrew Senior Life, Brigham and Women's Hospital).
Members of JourneySongs have been singing together for 12 years, sponsored by FUUSN, First Unitarian Universalist Society of Newton. Our repertoire is drawn from many faith and world traditions and includes lullabies, chants, rounds, spirituals, hymns, niguns and classical music. We choose songs meaningful to the client and their caregivers.
We believe in the healing power of music and calming presence during life’s transitions, whether that presence is in person or virtual. In this time of the COVID pandemic, it is more important than ever to offer healing sound, song and a soothing presence to decrease isolation, and calm and uplift spirits.
To abide by visitor restrictions and in place of in person visits, we now offer audio and video recordings, including images of nature synched to our singing. These audio tracks and videos can be downloaded below for you to play on In-house television channels, upload to Google Drive or individual iPads. Please scroll down to the "Downloads" section of this website below, and click on the picture of the music notes. There you may enter your name, email address and facility name, and click on the download button for the items you wish to receive.
We look forward to singing in person as soon as is safely possible. We are hopeful!
Singing is our gift and donations of any amount are gratefully accepted when downloading our work or requesting a sing. If you find our work valuable for supporting patients / clients at this time, please scroll down to the Contribution section below. Thank you!
